Lori Powell
Executive Director
Lori joined HEART as the Executive Director in April 2022 after retiring from a long career in technology and risk management in the financial industry. She first came to HEART in 2016 on a mission trip when she immediately fell in love with the women, children, and HEART programs. She has been actively involved in women and children’s ministries and organizations for over 20 years. In 2014 she lost all her hair due to Alopecia Universalis, which enabled her to gain an even deeper understanding of the pain and suffering of feeling like an outcast.
Lori lives in Rancho Cucamonga, CA with her husband, 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. She and her husband love traveling, spending time with family, and outdoor activities. They attend The Way World Outreach Church in San Bernardino, CA.
PASTOR PHIL SPARLING
Chairman of the Board and Spiritual Advisor
Pastor Phil Sparling is a family oriented Senior Pastor of Auburn Grace Church, where he has served for twenty-seven years. Phil is husband to his wonderful wife, Ruth, for thirty-three years and father of four outstanding children. His strengths include teaching, leadership, and administration. Phil has been an advisor to HEART Leadership for many years including multiple trips to Kenya where he has spent time training the Kenya leadership team.
DOUG JUDAY
Treasurer
Doug Juday is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and has worked in the financial services industry since 2000. He leads a team of financial planners across the West Coast of the United States and is excited to lend his expertise and experience to the HEART Board of Directors. Doug, his wife Alicia and two sons attend Bayside Church in Roseville, California and have participated on multiple mission trips including two to Kenya.
Audrey Murphy
Board Member
Audrey became involved with HEART, in 2006, after joining a mission team to Kenya. This trip introduced her to a passion for the African culture and the desire to work with HEART to help others. Since that time, she has traveled to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and South Africa.
Audrey has 2 adult, married children and she and her husband live in Auburn, CA and are proud grandparents to 3 granddaughters. Audrey is a full time real estate agent and enjoys all water sports, golfing and time with her family. She and her husband attend Auburn Grace Community Church.
SANDRA PERKINS
Secretary
Sandra has been involved with HEART since 2013, the year she and her husband, Rob, took their two children on their first trip to Kenya with Bayside Church. Several more trips quickly ensued!
Sandra has enjoyed volunteering with HEART in various capacities throughout the years. Sandra and Rob worship at Fremont Presbyterian Church in Sacramento and enjoy walking, running & biking along the American River.
RUSSELL TWEET, MD
Governance Committee
Dr. Russell Tweet has been a Family Practice doctor in Auburn, California since 1979. He has traveled to Swaziland, Kenya, Zambia, India, Thailand, China, and Mexico on medical mission trips. He is an elder in his local church, Sierra Grace Fellowship.
